Desert “Drift” Wood & Weeds

Desert “drift” wood and weeds. Weird thing to take a pic of huh?

desert drift wood

These are the things I’ve learned to notice and gaze upon while living in the desert. Especially when I used to go on my early morning walks with my former Carolina Dog, Schatzie.

The quiet early mornings with her by my side were the best. I learned to notice and see things in the quiet. It wasn’t still because mornings are active times with wildlife but we need to be still within ourselves to notice these things.

The stark beauty still never fails to capture my attention. I sense God speaking so clearly to me during these times. Schatzie would stay by me as I pondered, took photos and gazed at the beauty. To me this pic is filled with life.

The desert fauna may look like weeds but they have purpose and proven beauty in their blooming. That provides for a whole circle of life – birds, bees, etc. The wood protects their roots and leaves during the heat of the day.

I admire the plants and animals that survive and even thrive in this environment. Amazing really.

I’d never have met this beautiful dog Schatzie who found us on her regular escape from her barren yard and loneliness at age 7+. She was an exceptional being who brought the desert to life all the more for me.

While so much has changed for all of us, especially the last 18 months, I can still be grateful in the midst of it all.

Things have really changed for me in many ways. Doors have closed. Others are opening. The questions that nag can be – is that door really open for me? Aren’t I too________ you fill in the blank. I have, far too often.

Today my awesome friend and brother in the Lord Jesus, Leslie Dahl, who I met soon after everything changed in the world through Plumbline Network, shared a reminder for us in his FB group to not listen to ourselves but rather talk to ourselves. Speak life over the negative and the things that hold us back from stepping fully into our destinies no matter what we filled in that blank with.

I’d have missed so much if I’d said no way to this amazing dog. Even though at first, I didn’t want her to mess up my plans – so silly. She didn’t mess up a thing, she took me to a whole new level. Even after I broke my ankle because of her lol (full story at Lost But Now Found). She messed them up in the best way!

Run your race, let go where you need to and embrace what you need to. Just like the plants, animals, nature does.

Until next time…

Have a PAWSitively, tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day!
