Diffusing the Fragrance

The Flowering Desert Bush
The flowering desert bush

Your presence releases a fragrance so pleasing—over and over poured out. For your lovely name is “Flowing Oil.” No wonder the brides-to-be adore you.” ~Song of Songs 1:3, TPT

This post is by Dr. Kim, the dogs are napping or playing in heaven right now lol.

Back in early June of 2018, I was out on my morning walk with my girl Schatzie lamenting and whining to God about how bad the drought was and how long it had been going on. I was sad that I was missing some of my favorite late spring/early summer flowers – big, ol’ pity party. I even said I know that I have SO much to be grateful for and that others around the world have some real, life threatening situations all the time including weather disasters…I whined anyway.

Then as I was about to pass this wild bush, I noticed it had flowers all over it which surprised me because none of the others of its species did. I stopped and smelled it and the scent was/is divine!

The scripture, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place…2 Corinthians 2:14, NKJV came immediately to mind.

I didn’t share all of that in June but in August of 2018 because well life happened. THEN August 27th happened. Every single one of these same bushes on our morning walk was loaded with these flowers. We had a lot of rain in the late summer of 2018 – although the desert is NEVER satisfied with enough rain, but it still displayed its beauty in multiple ways due to all that rain.

On that August day I was reminded gently by Holy Spirit of my abundant blessings…especially when I quit whining and focus on what I GET to steward from the abundant blessings He bestows on me and my husband regularly. When I focus on where I am rather than where I think I need to be…and just BLOOM where I am planted!

That morning I listened to an old message by Christine Caine, of A21 advocating against human trafficking and for Jesus Christ, after my walk. I wasn’t looking for the video, it just “showed up” in my YouTube feed. Coincidence? I don’t think so at all. I don’t believe in that. I DO believe in our amazing, mighty God though!

So thank you Lord for lovingly reminding me of this once again as we are now in another serious drought in NM in the spring of 2021 – a drought of truth, a drought of rain, a drought of love, a drought of kindness…except as your daughter ALL of those things ought to be evident and lived out through me – in fact each one of Your children! Thank you Lord for lovingly reminding me of how You came to give me life and more abundantly (John 10:10). That Your joy is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10). That I had an absolutely gorgeous, kind, loving Carolina Dog named Schatzie to walk beside me back then. Now she’s with You, but thank you for reminding me of all I still have and what I did have is eternal because it’s all with You!

This same story is told in allegorical style, in this blog post The Scent of the Sent and mentioned by Shadrach in his angelic debut post, Healing Comes from Joy.

Until next time…
Have a PAWSitively, tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day!
