In my previous post on water I stated that there are two things we can only live for a very short time without and water is one of them. The second thing is air – and we can only live at the most a few MINUTES without that! AND just like water, not all air these days is created equal – wait what? Yes, thanks to the added chemicals being put into it – yes you heard me correctly.
“If we pollute the air, water and soil that keep us alive and well, and destroy the biodiversity that allows natural systems to function, no amount of money will save us“. ~David Suzuki
We all need clean air daily. As I’ve stated repeatedly, when there is a “law” in nature it can’t be broken without consequences. What so many seem to be unaware of is that the most air polluted places are our own homes. With all of the fake-grance type chemicals we use in our home daily not to mention all the chemicals off-gassing from our furniture, carpets, paints, etc, fresh air has become a tall order.
These are just a very few of the articles that can enlighten you further to the dangers of these off-gassing toxic chemicals that are causing harm and destroying any quality air in your home:
Why Scented Products (Fakegrances) Are Not Safe
Fragrances in Common Household Products Contain Many Toxins
Fragranced Products Emit Toxic Chemicals
Toxic Phthalates Commonly Found in Baby Powders, Lotions and Shampoos
The Chemical Scents Retailers Use to Lure Shoppers Might Do More Than Just Smell Bad
New Study Finds Scented Candles and Air Fresheners Pose Massive Health Risks
Here is a short animated video to show you more of those things causing poor air quality. By the way, these things such as laundry dryer sheets off-gas into the environment causing further damage to the air outside as well as inside your home. Remember, whatever you put ON yourselves and your companion animals goes IN to you and them! That goes for whatever you breathe in as well. Additionally these toxic chemicals can and often do affect behavior – in our animals AND us! Reference: Olfactory Engineering – How Corporations Control Your Thoughts, Moods and Actions Through Smell
To ensure better air quality in our own homes as well as taking daily walks in the fresh air outside (when the skies aren’t being intoxicated with chemical spraying and pollutants) we do the following:
1. We use air purifiers that also ionize the air as well. Negative ions are essential to purify the air (reference: http://www.ionic-balance.com/technology/what-are-negative-ions)
2. We diffuse authentic, therapeutic essential oils as they also not only purify the air but add in negative ions as well (be careful on this one that you don’t resort to the synthetic, FAKE-grances that often masquerade as therapeutic typically sold at major retailers and health food/natural grocer stores)
3. We don’t use conventional laundry or personal soaps, household cleansers, air fresheners, etc. We opt for as natural, toxin-free as possible. And when not possible, we make our own.
It’s all about replacing the toxic products (household, personal care, yard care, etc.) with safe, natural ones. A good place to start researching this is at www.ewg.org so you can make better, healthier choices for yourselves and your animals.
“You can’t change who you are, but you can change what you have in your head, you can refresh what you’re thinking about, you can put some fresh air in your brain.” ~Ernesto Bertarelli
Until next time….
