For a decade now I’ve taught on the power of our words – for OUR and OUR animals health! What we speak about we bring about. So many have taught on this and yet it seems more and more evident now in light of all that is happening in the world. So, I’ll start with a few quotes. Then I’ll share a few thoughts on why the darkness appears to have an advantage over us all of a sudden (it’s not been sudden it just seems that way). Lastly, I’ll share how we who desire to speak life and truth over all of the lies and death – for ourselves, our animals, our regions, nations, etc. – can change this and much faster than it’s taken the darkness to get to this point. I’ll also share why this is important for the health and well-being of our animals and ourselves. This won’t be in depth, it’s to actually engage us in THINKING which seems to have been obliterated while emotions have been cultivated instead – I can assure you that too has been by design of the darkness. As a side note (and I have a few in this post) darkness is just the absence of light; lies are just the absence of truth and yes truth IS absolute, NOT relative.
The title of this post came from a quote by my friend, Benji Alexander, the founder of Raising Royalty, “Seeds become forests. Words become worlds. Ideas become the future.” Pretty interesting isn’t? In the Word of God (and His Kingdom) everything is seed, sow, harvest. We need seed to sow in order to reap a harvest. We can do that very thing with our words – either negatively or positively, it’s up to us. I can’t even begin to go into the depths of how much the words we say matter. I hear phrases used so flippantly all the time and yet, it’s those very cliche phrases that we call forth when we speak them all the time and I won’t write those or share those here for that very reason. So let me share some quotes first as I stated previously.
First what the darkness has done is speak what they desire which is to turn this into a world of DIS-order. A world of draconian control. To assign who does what, when, how and then assign you your end. To create utter chaos and allow evil to abound. That is NOT what God intends or intended – if you want to know why it’s so-called being “allowed” by Him then you’ll want to listen to and learn from some very good teachers who have invested their lives in helping us to learn these truths as well as our most critical need – our identity. I’ll link a few at the end of this post – and no they are not heretics, in fact the contrary but that’s a whole topic based in religion not in faith. There is far too much to go into here and towards the end of this post you’ll see why I’m stressing this on a natural pet blog and podcast. Because OUR words matter for THEIR health and well-being alongside of ours!
“Be mindful when it comes to your words. A string of some that don’t mean much to you, may stick with someone else for a lifetime.” ~Rachel Wolchin
“Choose your words wisely, because they can either heal or hurt.” ~Author Unknown
“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” ~Yehuda Berg
Imagine all that has been spoken through the media, the government, on and on and on. Why? Is it all just politics or entertainment? No, it’s planned and thought out and has been for longer than any of us have been alive – prophesying and speaking death over all of us in SO many ways. That also includes when we go to the doctor – giving us the worst news before any facts through testing have been determined – it’s status quo. If I went down the rabbit holes this would turn into a book and there are plenty of them available for you to read and for free in fact. Sounds too sci-fi to be true? That’s what “they” hope we’ll think. I didn’t mean for this to get so “rabbit hol-ish” anyway lol, so let’s go to the Light side now shall we?
“Speak only the good things you know about someone, and you’ll be amazed at how many good things will start to come out of them.” ~Author Unknown – ***side note, this is true for what we say and speak over and to our animals as well. And that is NOT woo woo!
“Speak life to everything around you, and watch as it flourishes.” ~Author Unknown – another side note, if you garden or grow house plants, or food, try this and see what happens. I have in the past and it TOTALLY made a difference. A funny side story from years ago, I was speaking to my flower garden one morning and I didn’t know my neighbor was in her yard. It was early spring before the grapevines grew up over our shared chain link fence. When I saw her looking at me I said hi and told her I was talking to my plants LOL. She said, “Oh, I wondered who you were talking to.” We both laughed and it was all okay hahahaha! The plants flourished by the way.
“Let the words you speak be like honey: sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” – Proverbs 16:24 Healing to the BONES. Why is that so important? Because bitterness, anger, strife will create stress which dries up our bones where our bone marrow is housed. Bone marrow is a very important and integral part of our immune system.
Okay and now for a truth moment. The last four years have been very challenging for many of us in this world. Additionally, I’ve struggled with negative words my entire life because (as I’ve learned) much of what we believe about ourselves is ingrained in us by age 7. To say my growing up years were dysfunctional is an understatement and another reason (other than naturally) that I gravitated towards animals. And YET, God showed me over a one week period last fall (at night during a series of events where I was awake due to thunderstorms primarily because of Ezra), all the gold in my childhood. Now all I have to do is let go of the “old person” I was before Jesus, and BE the new person He made me to be in Him and enjoy that gold. Easier said than done, so good thing He guides us as we yield to His Spirit.
Anyway, we got our Carolina Dog Ezra (whom I’ve made a very integral part of this blog and podcast), during the most challenging time in the world for many of us. Ezra has been the dog that has challenged me more than all the others put together. Since he’s so feral, he is like living with a cat/dog/coyote all rolled into one. My attitude and words to him have been less than stellar too much of the time. He’s VERY sensitive – just like me. He’s also very reactive much like I’ve been in my life. He came into our lives when we (Dr. Jeannie Thomason and I) ended our online school in animal naturopathy, our long time podcast Animal Talk Naturally (which was ground-breaking in its day), and essentially ended our long time friendship as well, meaning it wasn’t a good, fun or exciting time but rather the contrary.
As my long time friend, Bre (she and her husband are rockstar dog trainers and dog whisperers no doubt) said that he’s not giving me a hard time, he’s having a hard time. When I love on him and use encouraging words, he’s a different dog. Yesterday for example I had him sing worship with me. I call him my “worship” dog. I call King (our American Bully) my “music” dog. Ezra has been trying to sing like a human as he watches me and King sing LOL! King barks and howls – that’s his singing and he’s really good at it. They know these words: sing and worship. They LOVE the worship time because my mood is so different. It’s also the same when I speak words of encouragement when they do good rather than berating them when they misstep. In fact, when I do that they are eager to please! At night before bed, I pray over each of them the endearing traits they have that are so wonderful: they’re so handsome, smart, mighty dogs of valor, excellent at_________ fill in the blank unique to each dog. They really love this time. Then I sing a song or three I’ve made up about them – only my dogs would appreciate this lol. Seriously though, they know if I’m singing their song or the other dog’s song. When I tell King that he has the most beautiful smile on a dog I’ve ever seen with the most beautiful eyes, he invariably smiles. I’m not kidding. Do they understand? I’ve had so many say they only understand our intentions. I don’t think so. I think they know FAR more than we even realize.
What if I (we) just cultivated that and not any of the negative no matter the circumstances? Don’t you think the atmosphere of my (our) home would be filled with love and joy since I know (from scripture) that God inhabits the praises of His people (meaning He is glorified)??? The answer would be a simple YES. So why don’t I always do that? Because I let that dead “old person” speak too often letting her be “mostly dead” (reference the movie Princess Bride lol), rather than dead dead. Truly our thoughts become our words which become our attitudes and actions.
Let’s sow the seeds that bring a harvest of healing, health and life shall we? It’s a choice that if as many as possible of us would begin to do this we’d see huge seismic shifts in this world – it would change the atmosphere to one that hosts love, peace, joy, and righteousness. Remember, our animals who live with us do not have a filter for our thoughts or words. They just receive them. Therefore, in order for them to BE well, we must sow the seeds in their hearts and minds that bring that harvest!
