We all know we shouldn’t eat processed junk food, but we all do it. I eat very little in the way of processed food because in my home we prefer to adhere to God’s laws of health and eat as fresh, organic and natural foods as possible. We do the same for our dogs as for us. We did an Animal Talk Naturally show on February 19, 2014 entitled, “Worst Dog Foods?” (see the audio attached to this post). It was titled with irony of course because to us, ALL kibble is the worst!
God originally placed us AND the animals in a garden. The nutrition was fresh, raw and readily assimilable for all of us. For some reason though, we’ve decided to leave our animals out of the equation when it comes to “fresh, raw, and easily assimilable” nutrition.
Part of the challenge has to do with economics and marketing and part has to do with us relinquishing the responsibility for health, for ourselves and our animals, to the medical industry. My desire is to help people take back the responsibility for their pets’ health. By understanding how both the medical industry and we as individuals have been duped through mass marketing, lobbying and other corporate ploys we can unveil the deception and take back control of our pets’ health.
Nutrition is the foundation of good health for our animals as well as the foundation of what I teach my clients.
When I was growing up, we had friends and family who farmed in the traditional sense small, self-sustained little farms. People ate what they grew and raised. All the animals were raised eating what they were created and designed to eat. The cows, horses and sheep grazed on grass. Pigs ate slop, rooted and rolled in mud. The chickens were fed scratch and ate bugs. The cats ate what they caught, and dogs ate leftovers including all the raw bone, fat and meat trimmings we humans didn’t want to eat. None of our animals ever got cancer, diabetes or any of the common diseases diagnosed in pets these days. They mostly died of old age which by the way was much older than pets are living these days contrary to popular myth and propaganda. Here is a great video of a dog that lived to be nearly thirty years old – and not because of the fancy veterinary care the veterinarian in this video wanted everyone to believe – listen closely to what the reporter on the story says about that (lol):
The first thing to do is put aside what you thought was proper, “balanced and complete” nutrition for your dogs. Balance happens over time with a variety of foods and that cannot happen in a “scientifically formulated” recipe that comes in a bag or a can no matter what study or person with a title says to the contrary. It’s not how nature works. What it is however, is convenient for dog owners to feed, and highly profitable for the corporate commercial pet food industry. But it definitely is not profitable or expedient for our dogs and ultimately not for us as we pay in heartache and high veterinary bills.
What should our dogs eat then? The simple answer on what to feed any animal is to look in their mouths. God designed each animal to eat a certain way and supplied them with the proper teeth to eat accordingly. Dogs are CARNIVORES as their dentition (teeth) and digestive tract illuminate clearly. We therefore feed them what any good carnivore eats: other animals, aka raw meat, bones and organs.
However, that said, don’t expect your conventional veterinarian to agree with what I am teaching you here. What I am teaching you are God’s laws of health set down in nature. But we have decided to push aside what God has designed and make up our own rules that serve only one thing: mammon or in modern vernacular MONEY, as well as human convenience…although none of it is very convenient for the animals in the long-term.
We are not being taught about health care for ourselves or our animals – we’re being taught how to maintain disease. The following video will attest to that very truth:
My clients most often come to me as a last resort with very chronically ill pets – and without exception every single one of them were feeding a commercial diet to their pets. I always qualify them first to make absolutely certain they understand that what they are going to learn from me is going to be completely alternative and even contradictory to what they thought they should do to maintain good health in their pets. Most are desperate at that time as conventional care has given up on their pets by then, so they are now ready to do whatever it takes to help get their pets well again. All I do is simply teach them to follow God’s laws of health.
We go back to basics, and definitely back to nature.
“Look deep into nature and then you’ll understand everything better.” ~Albert Einstein
With that in mind let’s take a quick look at what dogs are on the inside. They may all look a lot different on the outside (especially our very genetically diverse canines with all their many breeds) but on the inside dogs are less than one percent different in their DNA from the gray wolves. Their teeth and digestive systems are nearly identical to their wild cousins in fact. http://nwcreation.net/dogsandwolves.html
You’ll find many arguments to tell you however, that our domestic animals have evolved so much that they simply cannot eat a natural diet and are able to only eat a diet of processed commercial food that was “scientifically formulated, balanced and complete”. Those arguing in favor of processed commercial diets typically stand to gain economically through the sale of them. Additionally, veterinarians are also taught the very basic nutrition they learn by the pet food industry who helps to fund their schools.
J. KEITH BENEDICT, D.V.M.: “I suppose we veterinarians who do a lot of work with skin and hair problems ought to thank the commercial pet food manufacturers for all the business they create for us.” (Dr. Benedict is a holistic veterinarian in support of raw diets for pets).
By putting economic and political motivations aside, you should be able to ascertain that dogs are still dogs regardless of how they look on the outside. Which means they still need to eat the same foods they were originally designed to eat. Their anatomy and physiology are not internally different in other words than their wild cousins.
Something to note is that commercial pet foods have only been fed for the last one hundred years or so. So what were dogs eating prior to that? As I stated previously they were eating diets that were natural to their species. Raw and uncooked. And it was balanced and complete. Not every day, but over time as God designed things to work in their bodies and in ours.
Fear is a big motivator to keep you from doing the very best thing to keep your dogs healthy and that is to feed a species appropriate raw diet. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~2 Timothy 1:7, KJV
Nutrition is the cornerstone, the foundation of good health just as Jesus is the cornerstone, the foundation of my faith. Without Jesus there is no point to my faith. Without the proper nutrition according to species needs (not convenience or economics for humans) there is no true health for our pets.
Until next time…

I just started my little guy (7 pounds) on raw meat and he shocked me with grabbing that cold, wet, raw chicken neck and guarded it with his life while he happily chomped away. I was going broke paying my veterinarian every few months and my little guy was suffering. I got him the leaky gut protocol and am reversing the effects of his vaccines. I’m hoping to get rid of his horrible anxiety, his endless scratching, and his fearfulness. I was feeding him homemade dog food but found out that wasn’t good for him either. I believe in Gods way over mans! It makes more sense! Can’t tell my vet or my daughter the vet! They think I’m crazy!
Hi Sharon,
This is great that you just decided to take back control of your own dog’s health and wellness! I am with you sister in believing in GOD’s health care over man’s agenda-oriented “care”!
The only reason your vet and your daughter (vet) think that is because they were indoctrinated in school to believe that – the pet food industry is who teaches them what little they learn about nutrition. Sad but true and we have had veterinarians who woke up, tell us that very thing themselves.
Here is a video for you that you won’t have seen in the post as I am just now adding it to the post: https://youtu.be/soDAmeAIEHo
