Whole Health for Happy Dogs: A Natural Health Handbook for Dogs and their Owners, by Jill Elliot DVM and Kim Bloomer VND, is the best book Ive ever seen on all things dog, both in its content and layout. It teaches us that health is not just absence of disease but an overall high functioning, vibrant, joyful, and fulfilling life that is available by following the simple yet profound precepts this book contains.

news release
for immediate release
Albuquerque, NM — August 3, 2007 –Animal Talk Naturally (ATN) announced today that they are adding a LIVE call-in show to their lineup of Internet Radio Shows and Podcasts. The new show, which will be streamed LIVE on BlogTalk Radio, will feature news, events, interviews and book reviews to add yet another element to the regular weekly educational show.
“ATN Gone Wild! will be more like a regular offline radio show with news, tidbits short interviews, audience comments, and our own interaction” said Kim Bloomer, Host of Animal Talk Naturally. “It will afford us the opportunity to give more guests a platform, our listeners more valuable resources and of course our animals the care they need and deserve.”
This is from our good friend and monthly contributor, veterinarian Dr. John Symes (aka Dogtor J) who will be speaking with us on Animal Talk Naturally on this topic on Wednesday March 28th at 2:30 PM ET at Holistic Pet Audio which you’re invited to attend live:
I have very mixed feelings here. Of course, I am saddened by the death of the affected pets and the trauma this has caused the owners. BUT, this is the absolute best thing that could happen TO the pet food companies. I could not be more excited about the potential for seeing the much-needed changes in pet food manufacturing that may finally come about as a result of this “scandal”. This recall should serve as a HUGE warning shot being fired across all of our bows.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Starting out as a two-woman natural pet health podcast, Animal Talk Naturally is expanding to accommodate a growing desire for more education on natural pet health and welfare
February 25, 2007 – When two women put their minds together to create something you never know just what might happen. In the case of Kim Bloomer and Jeannie Thomason a natural pet care podcast happened.
The two met in the late spring of 2004 and discovered their like-minded approach to natural pet care. They felt they had to find a way to share their passion for natural health together but weren’t quite sure how to accomplish this with Bloomer living in NM and Thomason in CA. The two didn’t have to wait long to discover that podcasting was only some audio training and an RSS feed away.

“As I watch the number of common-sense animal lovers growing, and becoming stronger as they face new laws about their pets, I am reminded that love can’t be stopped by laws, or by people who don’t understand its power. Even the smallest mother dog fights with the force of a tiger when standing up for what she loves. Many a giant has discovered this as he is falling.”
(Ron Hevener - Author, “High Stakes” )
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about all the anti-pet legislation happening across the nation. Many people might think these new bills and ordinances are pro-animal, pro-pet but everything is not as it appears on the surface. Ponder these things:

“The best protection against evil is a heart bent toward good; seeking God in all things.” - John Fischer (A Purpose Driven Life Daily Devotional - inspiration for the title of this article).
Darkness has crept into the world of animals and animal protection over the years, with 2007 shaping up to be the darkest yet. Those of us who love our animals and want to continue to live with them in companionship (rather than banish them to a “gaze upon at a distance place,” as the animal rights movement would have us do), are experiencing a rude awakening to the true dark agenda of this movement. It is this awakening that has gotten pet lovers, pet owners and breeders moving, speaking out, and taking action. We’re out of the gates a bit slow but like Phar Lap the racehorse, we can come from way behind and stride out front to win this race and leave them in the dust!
January 15, 2007 – With over 65 million households in the United States having pets and a $30 billion dollar pet industry, Americans obviously love their animals. Yet, lurking in the background are people who are working diligently with the city, state and national governments to take away our right to own and breed our pets. How can this be?

In light of all the anti-pet legislation coursing through the country some pet owners have decided enough is enough
“True animal lovers only want to live in peace and love their pets. They would never dream up such laws. Hurting pet lovers this way is heartless, crude and mean-spirited. Instead of preventing cruelty, this is the very license for it.” (Ron Hevener - Author, “High Stakes”)
ANIMAL AMBASSADORS Emerging To Shed Light on Anti-Pet Laws
January 10, 2007 - New animal ordinances are springing up all over the world and more recently sweeping the United States. Many responsible pet owners and pet lovers believe that these new ordinances will force irresponsible owners into proper and responsible care of their animals. Dangerous dogs, pet overpopulation and breeding kennel conditions are “the issues in question” if you listen to animal protection groups and the mainstream media. But when we take a closer look, are those things “really” what drives all this legislation?
