Holiday Dog Cookies

By Dr. Kim • Dec 20th, 2007 • Category: Aromatherapy & Essential Oils for Animals, Natural Foods & Treats for Dogs & Cats

Straight from the kitchen of my friend, Dianne Sever of the Just Say No 2 Vaccs group online we have special holiday cookies for your special dogs. Remember that the ONLY essential oils we recommend and use ourselves (especially for use in recipes like this) are Young Living Essential Oils.

Snickerpoodles

1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup butter
1 cup raw honey
2 eggs
4 3/4 cups flour (use rice flour or fava bean flour)
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
apprx. 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix oil (I warmed mine a bit in a sauce pan to make it easier to blend), butter, and honey with the eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Refrigerate dough for about an hour or two. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with poodle cookie cutter. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. Bake at 400 degrees for about 8 – 10 minutes (watch them though because your oven may differ from mine).

Lullaby Sheep

For the Lullaby Sheep cookies follow the recipe above but leave out the cinnamon. Instead, you will add 20 drops of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil and 1 cup of organic Lavender flowers to the dough. Roll out and cut with sheep shaped cookie cutter!! (Believe it or not these Lavender cookies are the ones the dogs all seem to prefer. Of the clients we’ve “polled” Lullaby Sheep cookies are their chosen favorite, LOL!!!!)

Just remember that you may need to add or subtract some flour to get the right rolling consistency…..it varies from climate to climate as you likely already know!!!
